"#1 Hunting/outdoor pursuit book I have ever read!...I saw a copy of this book at an archery tournament this summer- I asked the fella who had it if it was any good. He said he loved it- I must say this writer is up there with Steve Rinella and others more well known but no less a writer- in fact in the outdoor community this book should be a MUST read. This is not a book about trophies at all, it is written about the failures and struggles and compares those to our ancestors at the same time. The true nature of hunting, connection, food and failure come first- a process that is earned not bought. This should be required reading for every Hunter Education program in North America. I used to be the hunting editor of a major publication, I am sorry I am not anymore. I would have given this book to every writer I interviewed during that time as a benchmark."
